War Of The Immortals
The proof of how well Cyrus the Great applied psychological techniques appears in how many today first hear of this 6th Century B.C.E. Persian King through Judeo-Christian traditions. Cyrus released upwards of 40,000 Jewish slaves from Persia, and allowed them to return to their homeland. This seemed to them such an unprecedented act that in the Jewish mind of the day, and in the story as handed down through Hebrew scripture, this pagan king qualified as a servant of Yahweh. Nearly 2,600 years later this reputation endures.
